We love the endless ways you can personalise every element of your wedding. Personalised elements are one of the main things that guests remember most after your wedding. One of the other main things that guests remember is the food. So, what better way to really have one of the most memorable weddings ever than by personalising the food?

The story of your menu

When you’re choosing your menu, obviously it’s important to choose food that you love but also that your guests will love. But to really make your food choices personal, think about why you’re choosing the things that you’re choosing. Are you choosing a starter that happens to be your specialty? Is the menu akin to what you had on your first date? Is your choice of dessert your all-time favourite sweet treat? Tell the story of your food choices on your menus, and maybe even name the dishes something unique.

Signature cocktails

Of course, one of the easiest ways to personalise your food is to have it accompanied by a signature cocktail that you created and named yourself. Talk to the bartender or wedding coordinator to discuss what flavours and liquors work best together, what kind of taste you’re going for, and experiment. When you’ve settled on your signature drink, take some time to name it something awesome. You might even decide to make ‘his n hers’ cocktails and see which one is the favourite from your guests.

Dessert tables

We’re a big fan of dessert tables, giving your guests that little bit extra choice when it comes to what they eat on your special day. For a touch of personalisation, you might even ask some of your more talented baker friends to contribute a dessert to the master table, so that it gets even more personal. Alternatively, you could go down the retro sweet table route for the personal touch to give your guests a little nostalgia when they’re picking up their sweet bags. We’ve got you covered for some other creative ideas for dessert tables.

Quirky canapés

When most people think of canapés, they think of smoked salmon, mini crackers, vol-au-vents and finger sandwiches, and while often delicious, they can often be standard and impersonal. Shake things up a bit at your drinks reception by opting for miniature versions of more comfort foods that guests might opt for. Mini-pizzas, sausage rolls, potato wedges and chicken bites are just some of the canapés you can offer over your drinks reception. Your canapés will be more memorable if they’re out of the ordinary.

Think about the vegetarian option

This might not affect the guests who don’t even give the vegetarian option a second look, but for those who like to look at all the options, and of course for those who are actually vegetarian, it’s important to give a decent dish. If neither you nor your partner are a vegetarian, it can be easy to just disregard this and pick the first option that’s there, but guests will remember if you had a tasty vegetarian option. Talk to your caterer and find a few friends who are either vegetarian or opt for the vegetarian option a lot at weddings to find out what really makes a vegetarian option tasty and not just a bowl of vegetables.

Use your favourite restaurant

If you’re looking at the possibility of having your food catered for separately to your venue, then this is the perfect opportunity to inject your own personal tastes into your wedding. In fact, the entire menu will be personalised if you have your favourite restaurant cater your wedding. You’d be surprised how many restaurants offer to cater weddings and events, so why not do some investigating into your favourite food spots and create the perfect menu for your guests from your favourite restaurant, adding that extra personal touch.

Edible favours

Finally, your personalised wedding food doesn’t have to end with your menu, or even your drinks. Create personal, edible favours for your guests to enjoy and take home with them for an extra special memento from your special day. Give your guests jars of homemade jam, personalised boxes of mints, or even something that gives your guests immediate gratification, such as cake pops or macaroons will finish your personalised wedding meal off perfectly.
