Signature cocktail idea

Signature cocktails

For a drinks reception with a little extra personality, why not swap your Prosecco with your own signature cocktail that represents your wedding? You can discuss what flavours work together the best with your bar tender, and which ones would suit a wedding in summer or winter. Finish it off with a slick name and your guests will remember your wedding for its very own signature drink.

Garden sunglasses

Blankets or sunglasses

Keep your guests in mind in the freezing cold (or the blistering heat if you’re lucky) by providing blankets to keep them warm during the ceremony, or if you’re having sunny wedding give your guests some sunglasses or a parasol to shade them at an outdoor ceremony. It could be the perfect idea instead of favours and will leave your guests feeling cared for on your special day.

Music request cassette tape

Song ideas

Put a song request line on the RSVP card. That way your guests can request songs they want played and you can mix them in with your own set list for the band or DJ. After all, it is a long night and there will be plenty of music. Song requests from guests is also a great idea to have everyone up on the dance floor at some point. After all, who wouldn’t get up and throw some shapes when their own song comes on?

Artist

If you’re looking for some additional entertainment other than your music, why not consider a sketch artist to document the day in sketch-form. You could even get a Polaroid camera and take pictures of certain people and have your artist sketch them as keepsakes from your day. It’s lovely way to remember the day other than your photographs and your guests will love the unique addition. If you’re thinking of other alternative entertainment, we have some other ideas.

Lego Save the Date

This is definitely one of our favourite Save the Date ideas we’ve seen. Jessie Weirich and his wife Amy created a stop-motion Lego video for their Save the Date and it looks amazing. Although, time-consuming, it’s a fun project for you and your partner and a great attention-grabber. And if you love the idea but don’t have that kind of time on your hands, Jessie says on his Vimeo page that he’d be happy to make them for you.

Pom Pom confetti idea

Pom poms

Instead of glitter or confetti, you could have your guests throw pom poms as you leave the ceremony or arrive at the reception. Even just as something different to the norm, guests will love them. They’re much more colourful, and make for beautiful, vibrant photographs. They’re also less likely to get in your eye!

Flower ice cubes

Flower ice cubes

We love these flowery ice cubes. They’re super easy to make and they are the perfect personal touch to any wedding. Freeze edible flowers such as camomile or jasmine, or better yet, put in some fruit segments to go with some fruity cocktails. They look so cute and really add to your drinks reception. Combine them with your signature cocktails and you’ll definitely have a memorable wedding.

tea

Food station

Take the dessert table phenomenon one step further with a waffle station, a chocolate station or even just a tea station. Give your guests the chance to pick and make their own tea, waffles, pancakes (it is pancake Tuesday soon after all), whatever takes your fancy. It’s a great addition to the meal and something your guests will remember. You can even hire a chocolate fountain station if you’re a chocoholic.

Hangover kit

Hangover kit

If you really want to give your guests something as a thank you, thank them for having a truly amazing night with a mini-hangover kit. A couple of pain killers, a bottle of water and a packet of mints to kick start your guests the morning after the night before. It’s the perfect favour for guests who have been partying with you until the wee hours and one of the more functional favours too.

Engagement shoot with dog

Pets

If you have pets and you don’t fancy the idea of putting them in the kennels for your special day, why not incorporate them? There are loads of cute tuxedo outfits you can put your dog in, not to mention some cute signs that say “My humans are getting married”. If they’re well-behaved enough, you could even have them as the ring bearer.
