1. Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Duo n°2
A limited edition version of the now cult Healthy Glow Sheer Powder, Les Beiges Healthy Glow Duo n°2 breaks from tradition and is a two-tone cheek palette that is designed to sculpt and highlight.
The Chanel Les Beiges collection is all about a natural and healthy glow; think long summer days, a healthy tan, lots of yoga and a clean lifestyle. Pretty much the embodiment of Gisele in a matte, sheer face powder.
Duo n°2 consists of two powders, one a medium bright poppy pink with a satin finish that acts as a blush for cheeks, and the other a pale beige with a lightly-shimmery finish that works as a highlighter. The blush is super pigmented and very dense, pulling quite red when applied with a brush. (Tip: Brides should exercise caution when using this as it is very pigmented). The highlighter, on the other hand, is a beautiful beige and is perfect for buffing on top of the blush. Much to my delight, this highlighter is not very shimmery but brightens the complexion in a natural way replicating healthy, sunkissed skin.
A must-have for all beauty junkies. This Duo is part of the Summer 2016 makeup collection and will be on counter from 27th May. Grab it while you can.
2. Crème de la Mer The Bronzing Powder
Just when you thought you had seen it all - bronzing wise, and bought it too, Crème de la Mer go and release their delicious Limited Edition The Bronzing Powder.
A larger than large four colour powder, Crème de la Mer's addition to the bronzing is made up of harmonious illuminating and bronzing shades that are designed to perfectly highlight and contour the skin with a velvety and not powdery finish. The colours melt into the skin for a natural and golden look, that is matte and in no way orange.
Luxurious to the touch, this compact allows you to use the highlighting and bronzing shades separately or together. Personally, I love going all in, swirling my brush in all four colours for a full on glow applying the powder just beneath my cheekbones to create a natural shade effect. The look is sunkissed goddess and there is nothing wrong with that.
Available now from Creme de la Mer counters. Priced at €70.
3. Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow Palette
Enhance your sunkissed glow with The Bobbi Brown Beach Nudes Collection. Including three limited edition Eye Palettes in Pink, Nude and Gold and Sheer Lip Colours in Peach Sorbet, Pink Gold and Boho Breeze. The eye quads are standout and come in the most gorgeous rose gold packaging.
The Sunkissed Pink Eye Palette (check that rose gold packaging) is a perfect choice for the pale, Irish complexion and includes four versatile shades that work from day to evening. Pink can be a scary colour to use but this palette is a great place to start as the pink is very soft and looks barely deeper than my skin tone.
The metallic bronze shade is gorgeous and can be applied with a fluffy brush for a light wash of colour, packed on for more intensity or used wet for a foil like finish.
The cream and dark bitter chocolate (almost a charcoal brown) are matte and the pink gives a soft wash of colour with fine shimmer. I like to start with a wash of cream, add the pink all over my lid, then bronze on the outer 2/3 and finish with the dark brown as smoked out liner.
On counters now, €46.
4. Shiseido Suncream
I am super fair and always use* a decent factor when indulging in the sun. Each year as it approaches Summer I receive a the lion's share of suncreams at this time of the year, and while there is always something new about them, they are, at the end of the day, suncream. Or so I thought until Shiseido's new WetForce for Sensitive Skin hit my desk with a bang and had me dreaming of summer.
Not to bore you with the science behind the cream, but basically, what makes it stand out is the fact that the formula works by binding to minerals contained in water and perspiration to create a hydrophobic barrier and improve the level of UV protection. Yes, you read that right, water will now enhance the efficacy of the product rather than increasing the risk of you looking like a lobster. As far as breakthroughs go, this is one of the biggest scientific discoveries since the invention of UV filters.
The cream itself has a super light composition and glides onto skin without leaving an oily or greasy residue. Absorbing well this cream can be used on the face and below makeup without affecting the look of your makeup. Also, the product comes in compact packaging and is easily transportable. (For more on suncreams see here.)
Now to book a holiday and put this one to a proper test.
* Suncream should be replaced every 12 months
** Suncream should be applied every two hours.
*** Stay out of the sun at midday
