As usual, this year's Met Gala brought us plenty of designer gowns for us to gawk at, from the stunning to the shocking and everything in between. But while we might not be able to take our eyes off Rihanna's giant yellow cape, we've managed to direct our attention towards more wedding-style dresses for some truly fabulous bridal inspiration.
We just loved the embroidered patterns present on the red carpet last night on white gowns, our personal favourite, courtesy of Glee star, Dianna Agron. Her gorgeous one-shoulder, white gown designed by Tony Burch, was cinched at the waste and had three colourful cranes embroidered on the skirt. We also loved Fantastic Four star, Kate Mara, in her custom Diane Von Furstenberg gown with black designs at the bottom, while Chinese actress, Ziyi Zhang rocked a Carolina Herrera piece, perfectly encompassing the Chinese theme of the night with a high collar, simple floral embellishment and and 3-D embroidery on the skirt.
Keeping it relatively simple, but with some stunning embellishment, was Sofia Vergara. Looking beautiful as always, she arrived at this year's Met Gala in a stunning blush Marchesa gown with a slight plunging neckline, the engaged Modern Family star looked wedding ready. We adored the sparkly embellishment across the bodice to match her engagement ring. Amber Valletta also looked stunning in a column-shaped gown with gold embellishment at the neckline, along the bodice and at the end.
As much as we love a bit of embroidery or some sparkling embellishment, we're suckers for the simple elegant gowns and we were not left disappointed this year. Uma Thurman stole the show for simple gowns, looking like a Greek Goddess. The gazelle-like model wowed the runway in a sleeveless, flowing gown with a split up the side and a gorgeous train, all designed by Atelier Versace. Selena Gomez also kept it simple in her Vera Wang gown with black tassel-like straps and oriental white flowers in her hair.
Stepping away from bridal white, and into the more glamorous and daring side of the Met Gala, we turned our attention to the gorgeous Kate Hudson. The actress shone brightly on the Met Gala red carpet, donning a figure-hugging gold Michael Kors creation, with a nod the Chinese theme with its high neckline and gold detailing.
Another daring option for brides we saw at this year's Met Gala was the gorgeous yellow gown on Kristen Wiig. In a flowing, Grecian-style gown by Prabal Gurung, the Bridesmaids star reminded us not only of the coloured gowns that took over the bridal runways this season, but in particular of the gorgeous lemon masterpieces from Zuhair Murad. As if we weren't already sold on colourful bridal gowns!
