In the Fall 2015 collection, designer Romona Keveza unveiled wedding dresses that were fit for a Hollywood siren from times gone by. Her line, 'Legends Romona Keveza' was launched in 2006 after gaining years of establishment with her original bridal line, Luxe Bridal Collection, since 1999. The two bridal lines now coexist, with each bringing out a new season collection year after year. This particular branch however, was created by the designer with the sole purpose of focusing on the elegant glamour of decades past, with icons such as Audrey Hepburn and Jacqueline Kennedy. With this line, Romona Keveza intends to create the perfect wedding dress for brides who value both tradition and modernity.
Tradition can be clearly seen and felt in these wedding gowns, particularly in the design of their skirts. Most of the dresses in the fall collection boast huge, organza-style, ball gown skirts that are simply breathtaking. Without overloading the gown or using too much detail, the design is kept simple and clean with the focus landing primarily on the A-line skirt. The only point of detailing on these classic gowns is at the waist, where she interjects either a simple leather belt, bow detail or sequin embellishment faintly scattering the waistline. Our particular favourite among these has to be the A-line gown that ends just below the knee. The dress has a sweetheart bodice with detailed sequin embellishment that borders the overflowing tulle skirt. The set and frame of this gown makes it appear both dainty, feminine and elegant with just the right amount of glamour thrown in.
However, not leaving everything in the past, it was Romona Keveza’s intent to join together both that classic look with a more modern touch. She has done just that in this collection by incorporating her silhouette gowns with an inspiring detail – illusion sleeves and necklines. These wedding dresses have slightly slimmer skirts, while others are completely fitted with just a slight external mermaid trail at the bottom. However, the most striking thing about these dresses are their scattering appliqued designs, which are set on transparent sleeves and necklines and dotted with light accents of fabric. This style of design gives the illusion of trailing lace, almost like butterflies, reach up and down the arms and up along the bodice onto the shoulders. Our favourite is the slightly flowing skirt gown that has an entirely undecorated bodice and skirt until you reach the arms. There, with an illusion neckline and transparent sleeves, segments of white fabric flow out at the shoulders and down the arms. With this almost fairytale-like illusion Romona Keveza has created, it really is a beautiful way of incorporating a modern look onto her classical gowns.
The designer also showcased other, beautiful dresses like that of a fully lace sheathed mermaid gown with a sweetheart bodice and a simple, elegant dress that has two slight draping off the shoulder sleeves in silk. Whichever the style, if it is a traditional wedding dress that you are looking for with accents of glamour, style and overall graceful beauty, then you have found one in the Legends Romona Keveza Fall 2015 collection.
