Continuing our focus on some of our favourite designers from Spring 2017, we’re looking at the grand ball gowns of Carolina Herrera’s latest collection.
Carolina Herrera certainly doesn’t do things by halves, and if you’re a bride looking for a dress that will make a statement as soon as you walk in the room, look no further. From big, luxurious skirts, to grand, intricate detailing that commands attention, there are designs to suit the traditional and the modern bride.
We adore grand, ballroom skirts, and this plain, silk skirt flows with grandeur and presence. The gown is complete with gorgeous back detailing, bringing a sensual element to the design.
If you’re looking for something more youthful and whimsical, the layered, tulle skirt with delicate floral appliqués is stunning. The texture and movement on the skirt of this gown is stunning and the floral detailing on the bodice is just as breath-taking.
For a slimmer silhouette with just as much splendour as the bigger skirts, we love Carolina Herrera’s latest nod to the red hot trend of big bows. Two dresses in particular show off big bows on the back of slim, fitted silhouettes.
The simple, strapless gown shows off the bride’s figure, while still giving a sense of magnificence with an oversized bow so long, it forms a train for the dress. For a softer, more modern feel, the delicate flowing gown with chiffon embellishment is stunning. The chiffon bow at the base of the open back gives a feel of romantic beauty.
We also love the peplum detail Herrera uses in some of her 2017 gowns. In particular, we love the figure-hugging trumpet gown with exquisite and intricate detailing from the bodice all the way down the skirt.
For the casual, modern bride who wants a grand wedding dress without sticking to tradition, we’re obsessed with Herrera’s shirt-style wedding dress. Modern, daring and airy, the sensual centre slit and flowing skirt is perfect for the bohemian bride.
