We're so excited by all the new Fall 2016 collections from Bridal Week last month and now that the excitement has settled down, we're taking the opportunity to take a closer look at some of our favourite designers and their latest collections. This week we're looking at the gorgeous Fall 2016 collection from Monique Lhuillier.
This season, it's clear to see that Monique Lhuillier's stunning gowns are taking a glamorous step back to traditional ballgowns and grand designs that would give any bride that sense of occasion she deserves on her wedding day. Along with ballgowns, Monique Lhuillier's Fall 2015 collection also featured a trend making it's return from last year. We also noticed a big comeback for peplum, but not your standard, straight look. Monique brought back some of the less angled peplum looks reminiscent of her stunning 2014 looks.
Peplum aside, we also enjoyed plenty of lace in Monique's latest collection, both on the bodice and sleeves, as well as throughout the gowns. One of our favourites definitely has to be the lace champagne gown with a white overlay made of ruffled feathers. The movement and texture in this dress is nothing short of exquisite and the lace illusion neckline and mix of shades make for a unique an breathtaking combination.
While traditional, grand ballgowns were heavily featured in her collection, Monique Lhuillier certainly didn't shy away from sensual details. With slightly slimmer silouhettes and billowing fabric, Monique exhibited sensual, youthful slits along the flowing skirts. These free-flowing gowns allow brides to command a room as she enters without having a big ballgown to content with. She will walk into a room with her dress flowing after her, announcing its own presence.
Monique also didn't shy away from slim, column style gowns, even with her collection dominated by luxurious A-line ballgowns. We have to admit, while Monique definitely nails the ballgown style every time, we found ourselves lusting after her gorgeously slim silhouettes, particularly this one, with its deep neckline and lace detail. This definitely shows Monique Lhuillier's versatility in the bridal world, giving brides endless options to make them feel powerful, sensual and beautiful.
