Since launching her company in Wales in 2013, Vicky Rowe has introduced her couture statement gowns to brides all over the world. Her designs bring vintage detailing to the forefront, with intricate beading and couture details as well as creative uses of colour and flattering silhouettes. Vicky Rowe's gowns are now stocked at Ivory & Pearl in Co. Down.
Her latest collection of contemporary design encompasses craftsmanship and artistry of a bygone era. Vicky Rowe's gorgeous collection of gowns has a distinctive blend of 1970s silhouettes with exquisite Art Nouveau inspired scintillating beadwork.
Vicky was inspired by Haute Couture for this collection, with very high end embellishment, but still mixing in her love of glamour from the past. This exquisite blend is her core inspiration for the latest collection. Both Petra and Celeste have intricate beadwork based on an Art Nouveau comb and Nouveau vases. Celeste has an Egyptian-style twist. "I often return to those flourishes, having spent days in the Egyptian antiquities museum and found it so inspirational," says Vicky.
Vicky works directly with beaders in India who work for her exclusively. Bringing the careful, handcrafted beauty to each gown. "They're master craftsmen and we work together and there's such an exciting feel to how we work. Ethical production and fair trade are paramount to my business."
Spending time in India working with the beaders on her collections, she visits local bead shops and hand picks the beads and crystals she uses. "I like to think I'm producing heirloom pieces that will be handed down, something that will be cherished for a lifetime and worn again." Vicky even offers different colour slops to go under the dresses to change the look. Her gowns are nothing short of exquisite and the beading brings the perfect amount of glamour to any bride.
