Recently, we've shed some light and had a little look at what goes on underneath the wedding dress. We know that the bridal lingerie and underwear is a very important part of the brides outfit, and should not be overlooked. While we have already gone ahead and gushed over the simply dazzling and pretty lingerie pieces that are out there for brides at the moment, we admit we need to look at the more practical side of things too. Just like a bride would need hair pins and deodorant and all manner of necessities to survive under that lavish wedding dress, she too will need shapewear.
Granted, not as glamorous as the colourful, dainty pieces we previously picked out – it is nonetheless nothing to be reserved about. What girl doesn't want that extra little bit of security on her big day, where you can rest a little easier on the evening knowing all those potential wobbly bits are secured away? Not that every bride wouldn't already look beautiful as she is, of course she would. However, when it comes to wedding dresses it can become a potential minefield of VPL (visible panty line), static cling, peeking bra straps and all manner of fashion faux pas we want to ensure you avoid. So take it from us, it is always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to the wedding gown and what lies beneath.
Shapewear can, at times, be seen as a bit bland and sometimes embarrassing. But no longer will the reminder of Bridget Jones haunt your underwear drawers when you see the modern and very sleek selections that are on offer. You will find both slim-fitting bodices that look the perfect piece of simple lingerie, and more practical and useful adhesive and plunge bras without the peeking straps to suit all unique bridal bodices. You will even find many that specialise in bridal shapewear, combining both traditional white corsets with a practical form to make you feel both secure and beautiful. Even after seeing this great and innovative controlling and tightening underwear on the market, if you still feel shorted by not getting the chance to don something a little bit more glamorous, don’t. After all, who says a girl can’t have both? The shapewear will work just fine on the day, while that night you can quite literally slip into something a little more comfortable.
