Looking for a way to add a little extra romance to your wedding hairstyle? Try adding braids to your hair. Here are five chic wedding-day looks you can create all on your own
1/ Loose Dutch Braid
You can create this Rapunzel-like braid even if you don’t have long hair by adding clip-in hair extensions.
Directions
Blow your hair out straight and smooth before clipping in the extensions, and start doing a Dutch braid, occasionally loosening or pulling out pieces to add a tousled look. Add additional pieces of extensions on the side you’re braiding if you want more volume. You can finish the look with decorative hair pins or flowers placed throughout the braid.
2/ Crown Braid
An edgy crown can dress up any bridal look.
Directions
Part hair in the middle and while leaving one side down, create a low, braided side bun on the other. With the hair that is down, make four to five medium-size braids and then wrap them around your head, above the bun, to create a crown-like effect, pinning as you go to secure the style. For this particular look, a chain was wrapped in between the braids for added drama.
3/ Half-Up Braid
Here’s a fun twist on the half-updo.
Directions
After curling medium-sized sections of hair, make a front part as desired. Section off two pieces on either side of the part, then braid each section and pin one braid on top of the other across the crown of your head. For a soft, ethereal look, lightly pull apart each braid to loosen it.
4/ Braided Knot
Create a minimal knot by weaving a two-strand braid into the hair and fastening it with clips or pins.
Directions
Gather your hair into a ponytail at the nape of your neck and secure it with an elastic. Using a bristle brush and hairspray, smooth back your crown into a neat slick back ponytail. Then, twist the shaft in a clockwise motion and hold it in place with pins to create a low chignon.
5/ Ponytail With a Twist
Combine classic with tradition by interlocking your curls with a loosely plaited braid.
Directions
Gently curl your hair for romantic waves, then part wherever you want the braid to start. Start French braiding down to the base of the neck and stop adding in hair. Tie the braid into a low ponytail and wrap a small section around the band to disguise it.
