We've covered plenty of colour schemes here on S&P Weddings, but that doesn't mean that you absolutely have to go with a bright colour scheme, especially if you're more of a black and white kind of couple. There is (or used to be) an unspoken rule of trying to avoid black, either for your own wedding or when attending one because it's seen as morbid. This is definitely one of those rules made to be broken.

Black and white confetti

A black and white wedding is far from morbid. In fact black is considered timeless, classic, and sensual, while chances are, white is most likely going to play a major role in your wedding in the form of your gorgeous gown, so why not combine the two colours for a fabulously classic, monochrome affair? Never one to shy away from breaking rules, Vera Wang has been featuring black gowns in her bridal collections for years, but even if you're not that brave, there's nothing to stop you from putting your bridesmaids in slimming, classy black gowns. Don't forget about your groom either.

Black shoes

The black and white wedding doesn't have to stop at the dresses and the tuxedos either. One of the easiest details to add to your black and white wedding is the stationery. Simple white invitations with elegant black calligraphy is perfect and you can add your menus, table numbers and place cards to the mix. If you really want to step it up a notch, consider a black chalkboard cake like this one or even black and white cake pops to signify the bride and groom!
