It’s the thing Hollywood rom coms and most Disney blockbusters are founded on. But just because your wedding is, in theory, the most romantic day of your life, you shouldn’t take the romance for granted. There are steps you can take to ensure a truly romantic wedding. Aside from filling every element with something meaningful and smiling from ear to ear, you can add external things to have a romantic wedding.
Colours and lighting
Consider a colour scheme filled with those long-associated with romance and passion, such as reds and pinks. Pale pink is perfect for a soft romantic wedding that’s nothing short of a fairy tale. Any shade of red will portray a passionate and fiery romance between yourself and your partner. Nude colours can also create an intimate feeling. For lighting, warm, almost yellow lighting is much more romantic than harsher, whiter lights, while candles give your romantic wedding an intimate feel. Try using tea lights in lanterns or candelabras to achieve this effect. For a really dreamy look, hang fairy lights around the room to give added romance and magical.
Romantic wedding location
Did you meet at a wedding in a particular hotel? See if you can book it for your wedding reception. Or if he proposed in a fancy boutique café, see if there are any ways they can cater for you - perhaps they would be glad to make your wedding cake for you. If you’re thinking of a civil ceremony, what better place to hold a romantic wedding than in any of the grand state homes and castles across the country? While outdoor weddings can be tricky in Ireland, a forest clearing or beach wedding is the perfect fairy tale location fit for a romantic wedding.
Personal touch
Get your families involved by placing photos of your own parents on their wedding day by your wedding cake. Or, include a photo in your photo time of you both holding your parents’ wedding photos. Instead of table numbers, why not have places you’ve both travelled to, with photos of you there, marking each table? The place you got engaged would be perfect to highlight the top table. Say it with flowers
Flowers can achieve massive amounts in romance quite easily. Red roses, pale pink peonies or just your own favourite flower can add romance to your wedding. Use flowers as your most prevalent decoration to give a truly romantic feel, with a specially selected romantic flower featuring heavily, whether that’s your signature red rose, or elegant calla lilies. Be sure to incorporate some in your bridal bouquet.
Consider your fabrics
Have a look for bridesmaid dresses with a cut-out heart on the back detail, or a ribbon bow around the waist. For your tables, a tulle runner, similar to the material used on many bridal dresses, dotted with tea lights and jewels will give a glowing, beautiful look to every table.
