Bridal appointment bridesmaids

10 people

Bringing loads of people to your bridal appointment is messy. Bridal boutiques aren’t massive department stores, and there generally isn’t a lot of room for you. It’s also very confusing for the bride as well as the consultant. Too many opinions in the room is definitely not a good idea when choosing your wedding dress, and it is your wedding dress, so you shouldn’t let multiple cloud what you really want. Not to mention letting the bridal shop consultant run around picking up dress styles you know you won’t like.

Children

If you can help it, don’t bring children to your bridal appointment. It is not a place for them to be running around in. There could be stray pins, buttons and other small bits around the floor that are a child hazard. Not to mention that particularly hyper or bored kids could mess with the dresses or distract you. Remember, your bridal appointment is supposed to be a relaxing and happy experience that’s just about you and finding your dream dress, so you shouldn’t be preoccupied with looking after children.

Heavy make-up

We all know how difficult it is to see a dressed up outfit in all its glory when you’re face and hair aren’t done, much less something as glamorous as a bridal gown. However, while it’s important to go to your bridal appointment with some semblance of light make-up so that you feel confident, but don’t go with a full face of heavy foundation and a complete smoky eye. You don’t want to get any on the dresses!

Fake tan

Speaking of damaging the dresses, under no circumstances must you wear any fake tan to your bridal appointment. We’re really serious about this one, tan is an absolute no-no. Most bridal shops won’t even let you in the door if you have fake tan on, as it completely damages the dresses. You should stay well away from fake tan the week of your bridal appointment to make sure you’re in no danger of colouring the dresses a shade of orange.

Bridal appointment

A hangover

This is not the kind of experience you want to be going through after a few too many the night before. For a start, it’s meant to be a relaxed and magical experience, something not easily achieved with nausea and a banging headache. Secondly, you might not think it, but trying on wedding dresses is hard work. It’s very emotionally and physically draining, and you should be well-rested and raring to go. Not to mention that a hungover bride isn’t exactly the bridal shop consultant’s idea of fun.
