We love macaroon towers. They're a great alternative to your standard three-tiered wedding cake. For a start, they're easier for guests to enjoy, in bite-size form. You can also opt to give them out as favours for your guests in cute little favour boxes. They're also the perfect addition to your desserts. Alternative cake towers have been massive lately and with the opening of Ladurée's own shop recently, we've all gone mad for macaroons. The joy of macaroons is the endless flavours and variety you can have in one tower, not to mention how easily you can complement your colour scheme with different macaroons.
Your macaroon tower can be one giant centrepiece or it can be a lot of mini-towers set at the centre of each dinner table. You could also have the best of both and have two or three medium-sized ones in place of the single tower. What you do depends on how you want your wedding to look but also how you want the towers themselves to look. Do you want a lot of mini towers so you can confine one flavour to each tower? Or do you want to have your colour scheme running through your one big centrepiece macaroon tower? You could also throw caution to the wind and have an explosion of colour running all the way around.
Whatever you choose, we've taken to Instagram to pick out our top five favourite macaroon towers to give you an idea about what you might be looking for when it comes to fabulous macaroon towers, whether it's a replacement for your wedding cake or just as a part of the décor and cute favours to give away. It was hard to even pick our top five favourite, but we just about managed it. What colour and flavours would you choose from? #InstaInspo

My bride didn't want a traditional wedding cake so I recommended this fabulous @angesdesucre macaron tower, beautifully flowered by @blueskyflowers ...guests loved helping themselves to the macarons.
