Your Save the Dates are important for two reasons. Firstly, they give everyone a heads up to keep your wedding date free before the official invites are sent out so that people know not to make holiday plans.

Secondly, they are the first point of contact between you and your guest, and therefore, the first point at which you will showing off your personality. So, how do you want your Save the Dates to look?

Photo Save the Dates

There doesn’t have to be much detail. You don’t even need to send it in an envelope. Many couples simply opt for a photo post card. Taking these photos can be a lot of fun and act as a sort of engagement shoot for you and your partner. And if you have the detail in the photo itself, what more is there to say?

Creative Save the Dates

You Save the Date doesn’t have to just present information to your soon-to-be guests, they can be a bit of fun too. You can get almost anything personalised, so why not reverse the favours, and send out little keepsakes with your wedding date printed on it? Or send out retro ‘tickets’ to your big day?

Important Save the Date rules:

- If you’re getting married abroad, you should send them out 8-10 months before the wedding.

- For weddings at home, 4-6 months before is fine.

- Air on the side of caution and give your guests more time if you’re having your wedding in the height of summer or if you’re planning a three-day celebration.

- Be clear about your guest list before you send them. While it’s not a formal invitation, you shouldn’t send a Save the Date to anyone who should not be expecting an invite.
