Some wedding traditions can feel a little dated at times. You don't have to follow every rule just because they're written down somewhere. Rules are made to be broken and your wedding day should be about you and what you want, not what anyone else expects. However, having said all that, there is one traditional element that we at S&P Weddings just adore and that is adding your 'something blue'.

Along with your old, new and borrowed, it's always nice to have an excuse to add a bit of colour to your white ensemble (as if you needed an excuse anyway), and your something blue can be personal, unique and special. A bit of blue tulle underneath your wedding dress might be the perfect thing to make your ensemble unique and injecting it with that little something blue. You could also add a delicate blue sash to your waistline.

Alternatively, if you don't want to mess with the dress, think about accessories. Blue shoes peeping out underneath your wedding gown might be the perfect touch, or simply make your earrings or pendant your something blue. You could also mix your bouquet up with bluebells, thistles, irises and blue pansies. Even something as simple as a blue sash around your wrist or ankle will do.

If you want to keep the something blue tradition, but don't want to have it on show, we have some ideas for that too. Your first port of call could, of course, be your underwear, but make sure your dress allows for it. You don't want the dress material to be so clingy or so thin that all your guests can see your 'something blue' through the actual dress. Failing that, go for a blue garter for added sexiness for your groom. A final personal touch for your something blue is a small stitch of blue on the inside of the dress, be it a small message, your initials, the date of your wedding, or simply a heart, close to your own heart.
