We are getting really excited by the idea of summer these days. The days are slowly getting warmer, longer and sunnier, and no colour lifts our spirits quite as much as yellow. We love the power of positivity that yellow has and on a day that is already so full of happiness such as your wedding day, why not add a touch of extra sunshine by incorporating some yellow elements.

Yellow love letters

We've seen plenty of colourful wedding dresses over the seasons and this year is no different. But as well as the usual ice blue hues and blush pink tones, there have been some soft lemon colours stalking up the catwalk. Zuhair Murad featured some gorgeous pastel tones in his spring collection this year, complete with some beautiful summery yellow shades.

Yellow bridesmaids

Don't forget, if you want to stick to a traditional ivory or white dress for yourself, you can always look at lemon bridesmaids. We advise keeping the dresses simple to stop them from looking like lemon meringue pies. Aside from fashion, yellow is creeping into every part of the wedding, from the decor to the desserts. If you're looking for little lemon treats for your guests as favours or even just to be part of your dessert table, then how about little lemon cupcakes or even macaroons. They're gorgeously delicate and if they really are lemon flavoured they make for extra tasty summer wedding treats. Then there's your actual wedding cake to think about.

Don't forget about your flowers. With spring or summer in mind, and particularly if you're looking at yellow, flowers are one of the best ways to bring the bright colour into your big day. Any yellow flowers such as tulips and roses will look exquisite but if you're really trying to bring sunshine into your bouquet, there's no better flower than the sunflower. And don't forget to adorn your centrepieces and table decor with nice bright yellow blooms.

It's not just the wedding itself that can be bursting with bright yellow blooms and lemon decor. Anything from you stationery before the wedding, to the favours your guests get after the big day can be doused with your fresh lemon colour scheme. We love these "Mean to Bee" honey candles as romantic favours.

If you're trying to figure out how to match yellow to the rest of your colour scheme, we find that yellow and grey go particularly well together, with the bright offsetting the dark. The same goes for yellow and navy, one of our favourite colour schemes.
