Bruna and David tied the knot on a beautiful August day in Portugal last year. Photography by Lima-Conlon Photography.
Bruna and David met in Ireland on a Halloween night in 2009. “After a wonderful year and a half together David was forced to leave Ireland to search for work in Australia,” says Bruna. “I returned home for six months to my family in Brazil before joining David in Australia where we have been ever since.”
Bruna is originally from Brazil, and the couple didn’t get the opportunity to visit her home together until 2014. “It was David’s first time to meet my parents. With the help of google translate, he asked my Dad for my hand in marriage. The following day in Natal, Brazil at sunset he asked me to marry him.”
“Portugal was the most suitable destination for both our family and friends to attend our wedding. After a Christmas visit to Sintra, we fell in love with the Penha Longa Resort and its 16th Century monastery, which now caters for wedding events.”
Luckily for Bruna and Dave, everything came together very smoothly, despite organizing almost everything online from Australia. The part they were most concerned about was having to bring their friends and family together from all over the world. “We were amazed at the commitment from our Brazilian, Irish & Australian friends and family.”
“The day we will never forget. It was beyond all our expectations. We loved every moment. We felt so lucky that we could celebrate our wedding with our closest family and friends.” David’s most memorable moment was seeing Bruna walk down the aisle, while hers was their first touch before the ceremony.
The only hiccup was their first dance. “It didn’t go at all to plan. The live band played a completely deferent beat that completely threw us.”
“The friendliness and professionalism of all the staff in Penha Longa and all our suppliers made the day even more special. We were so grateful. It sounds cliché as advice, but it’s very true; live every moment and don’t let the day fly by.”
