Childhood sweethearts Deirdre and David tied the knot at the Headfort Arms Hotel in Kells, Co. Meath. Photography by Fiona Morgan Wedding Photography.
Deirdre and David booked their wedding two years before the day itself. “We just took our time. Both myself and David work full time, I work as a nurse in St. Vincent’s Private Hospital and David works in retail.” The couple wanted enough time to work around this.
“We’ve been together since the age of 16. We got engaged, but I had to find work in the UK. I soon moved home, we had our little boy, Callum, and then we tied the knot.”
Unsurprisingly, Deirdre found it tough to choose the best part. “Saying ‘I do’, walking up the aisle with my little boy and seeing David at the top of the church was truly special.”
“Three months before, we sat down to do the invites, which my sister helped with, and that’s when really started to feel close. We already had all the major parts booked: the church, the venue, the dresses, suits, flowers, band etc. so it all felt real then. I really started to relax and enjoy it within the last few weeks, with hair and makeup trials and dress fittings.”
Deirdre advises brides and grooms is to enjoy and cherish every moment. She says, “Despite the stress, fears and tears, you should sit back, take a moment, and look at your wedding. It just goes way too quickly, so cherish every minute.”
