Ballykealey House is the perfect location to celebrate your wedding day. It was constructed in the 19th century, arising from the marriage proposal of John James Lecky to Sarah Lucia Smith. Built with love, today it offers a picturesque and enchanting location for couples seeking a unique venue to host their wedding.
Offering many beautiful indoor and outdoor locations for your ceremony, from the verdant woodland to the lovingly restored barnyard, their experienced wedding team encourages couples to make the most of the house and grounds when planning their day.
At Ballykealey House, food matters; their reputation is built upon the premium-quality food they serve. Menus are guided by the seasons and inspired by the wonderful Irish ingredients available. James Murray, the house’s Executive Head Chef, has chosen suppliers—many of them local—who share the philosophy of freshness, quality, sustainability, and seasonality. The wedding meal is served in the spacious Sarah Lucia Suite. This beautiful and bright setting provides the perfect backdrop, allowing your guests to savour exceptional cuisine followed by a night of lively celebration. Seating for up to 275 guests can be catered for.
The manor house has 12 individually appointed rooms—each uniquely decorated in the most fashionable styles of the Victorian era— two courtyard suites and fifteen self-catering lodges, accommodating 105 guests onsite.
As for the views, the surrounding Carlow countryside with the Blackstairs mountains in the distance will not disappoint. With exclusive use of the house and grounds on your wedding day, say your vows under the 100-year-old tulip tree and host your reception in the Sarah Lucia Suite (The very bride the house was dedicated to).
